not to take advantage of the weather, but are there any good deals going on to try and get tourists BACK to Florida after all the 'canes of last year?

hey, I'll take a good deal if I can get it... and if it helps the local economy, well... look at New Orleans!

Yeah, definitely, but I haven't heard of any obvious, good deals, yet. Maybe everyone just needs to settle down first, after such tragedy, then the opportunities will come?

Disaters like that can kill tourism so it makes sense that we'd see a ton of discounted hotels, etc.

I think that the areas hit in general were big enough to withstand the disaster.

The places that get (more) seriously affected are the smaller resorts. Although there is always insurance to cover the costs of damage, having your entire business wiped out can be more than enough for anyone.

I'm not saying its not going to affect tourism at all, I just think that the hurricanes haven't detracted many from the likes of Orleans so I doubt Florida would be any worse off. Good time for the cheaper package deals, though Wink

Big cities and places won't have a hard time recovering from tragedies and they will come back soon, with all the better establishments and facilities around.

This is a weird situation if you ask me because you are kind of taking advantage of people by going when it's cheaper especially when they are in desperate need of money.

Hurricanes are pretty abominable, but I think people in hurricane areas become almost used to them
