What is your approach in playing poker in a free tournament?
What about in a money/paid tournament?
Are you serious in both? or have different approaches in each of them? |

| I never tried in a paid tournament, bu tin a free one I pretty much don't take the competition too serious if it is just for fun |

| it would depend on the other players -if they're playing for fun and having a good time then I'd do the same - if they're being jerks and being cutthroat for free, then I'd be more funny and try to psych them out! |

| Well, for me, guess it is just the same but of course, I would be more tensed with the paid tournament than the free tournament but luck just decides when to come along or go away. So, I don't think it will matter if I am serious in the game or not. |

| Aw come on no one likes tournaments? WEll for me, im very defensive in a paid tournament, and for free (no money involved) im just relaxed. And im actually playing for fun, cause to tell you the truth, when im playing for money. Im intense, im defensive, and im not very jolly. |

| I try to approach free and money tournaments the same way. If you don't take the free tournaments seriously then you are never going to improve your game. If you concentrate on the free money games then you are going to improve your real money game. |

I find it hard to play seriously because so few others are willing to do so. Players going all-in with nothing on a regular basis make playing sensibly difficult - after all, you've got a good hand that you want to milk and you're suddenly faced with folding and gaining nothing or going all in and risking the lot against a player who could have anything from a high card 9 to a royal flush.
I know what you mean though, and if you can find a good table where people are looking to improve their game then free money tournaments can be very worthwhile experiences. |

| I agree with Louis, it is extremely hard to play how you would with real money when you're playing with play money. Even though I go into the game intending to play properly I find myself going with hand that I certainly would go with in real money. |

| As I said above I approach free money as if it was real, however I definitely agree that it is very difficult to do this though. Especially when the other players are just messing about. This really does annoy me. |
