I always wondered, "What does it take to become a dealer" like how do those guys get the job, do casinos just hire any random person that knows hot to shuffle a deck and have no reaction?

I also wonder about that but definitely these guys must be very good in a way. Maybe, their Math skills and they must be alert, too. In whatever way, they are properly trained before they go to the actual work. Also, they are highly paid.

I believe you have to take a course and be certified... as for the low pay, don't forget that like waitresses, dealers often get tipped by the players - they can get some pretty good tips if the table's going the right way and the players drop a few extra chips as they take off!

In our country, dealers are one of the best paid employees, considering that casinos are also taking care of their staff's benefits other than their salaries and allowances.

if you're playing with the high rollers you're going to make a LOT in tips, that's for sure... not to mention that your seniority makes you more likely to get the good tables!

it's not as easy as it looks - you have to be able to deal quickly and efficiently without screwing up the cards; be able to teach the game to new players and be able to calculate the payouts right there without asking for help... it's a hard profession to learn!

Exactly..it may be hard, yes i agree. But its not like their going to learn alot. You probably only have to know a couple of things. Math and Dealing. But is it really smart to be a dealer for your proffession?
