I am heads up at the end of a tournament against a frequent raiser. We are virtually dead even in chip count. He had been going all in with j-10o, q-9o to steal my blinds. I was dealt 5-5 and he goes all in against me in the BB. I figured i am 50/50 at that point. Some remaining players saw my cards and thought i should call. I decided to fold figuring that if i waited him out i could catch him on his bluff with a better hand than pocket 5's.
It turned out i was right because he went all in a couple of hands later with a-9 and i had a-k and i took the tourney.
I was wondering how some of you would have played the 5's. If I was shortstacked I definitely would have called. |

If you don't think you can out play the guy you can call and cross your fingers. In this situation I think you were correct to wait for a better opportunity. If you think he is going to continue going all in with junk wait for a pocket pair where he is likely to have only 1 overcard or a hand that you figure to dominate his like the AK vs A9 you won with.
Ithink yoiu were right to fold. |
