| Ok, not only do I need to know WHEN to apply the knowledge of odds, but also how to do it. Let me know if this is right... So you have a deuce 7, flop is J,Q,K. You have 6 outs right, so you multiply that by 4 because there are 2 cards yet to come out. That's a 24% chance of getting a 2 or a 7... why doesn't that sound right? Damn odds |

| If you have a 2 7 and you are seeing a flop something is wrong to begin with. Also, your 'outs' in this case aren't really 'outs' because you probably won't make the best hand anyway. |

well, let's say NO ONE at the table will beat your hand if you catch a 7 or a 2 (highly doubtful). anyway, you have 2 cards, and the flop contains 3 cards. that means (as far as you're concerned) there are 47 cards left in the deck. out of those 47 cards, you can assume 3 are 2's, 3 are 7's. so, you have a 6/47 chance (12.8%) chance of getting a 7 or 2 in the next 2 cards. if the next card doesn't help, you then have 6/46 chance to catch your card.
i think i'm right, but if i'm wrong hopefully someone will correct me. also, if you have 27 please fold. |

I wouldn't throw any chips in with 7-2.
So, I'm assuming you were big blind and no one raised.
After the flop - forget the odds - with a KQJ flop get out!
But, if you must know:
75.856% - Catch nothing
22.757% - Catch exactly one 7 or one 2 for one pair
0.832% - Catch a 7 and a 2 for two pair
0.555% - Catch two 7s or two 2s for trips |

| Hmm okay thanks, I wouldn't put any money out on a 2 7 either, just being hypothetical. Why is it important for one to know these odds? That still confuses me. |
