I've recently found a few holes in my game, so I need some input from decent players.
I'm dealt AQos from early position at party poker .25/.50 nl tables, I raise pf to $2 I get one caller whom I have no information on. The flop comes A,7,3 rainbow. I bet out 5$, he smooth calls without any hesitance. The turn is a J, I again bet 5$ He raises me all in? At this point I've invested half of my stack, make the call or not and why? Any way you would have played this differently? What if I had AK?
Also, when you raise big pf with AKos and get 1-2 callers, and miss on the flop Q,T,5 again with no information on the players, would you take a stab at the pot from first position? If so how much? What about in last position if its checked too you? |

About the AQ hand, I probably would fold b/c he most likely has two pair (or even trips). Unless he is a total fish, I cant see him bluffing in that situation. He has to think that you have an ace, with most lkely a high kicker. He either hit two pair on the flop with A7 or A3 or on the turn w/ AJ. AK makes no difference to me here.
AK hand:
first to act, probably check
checked to, bet
you also have can catch a nine for a straight
doyle says that if he raises preflop, he bets on the flop no matter what he has like 90% of the time
I am no authority on the matter so lets see what others have to say... |

Well, I'm no authority either, but I'd check in first position here. If you bet, you don't want to get called, and if you are playing for low limits, you will be called a lot more often than you will at high limits. Remember, Doyle is playing with players with five or six figures on the table, not college kids with $25.
On the A-Q hand, I agree with the advice to fold. You're probably looking at aces up or a set. Fold your hand and wait for another spot. |

Its a tough lay down but he probably does have you beat...depending on what your BR situration is I might just call him here just out of plain curiosity to see what he really has, but thats just me.
The smart play is to lay it down and wait for another hand. |
