On the way home from last night, I decided to stop in at Commerce and try something I've been thinking of doing for the last week or so. The game is $1/$2 limit hold'em. Most folk buy the $1 chips. Me, I asked for the Fifty Cent chips. Cashier says "A rack of peach?" "Yes Please" I respond. So I take my rack of peach and walk to the board ask that my initials be placed on the 1/2 list. Have fun watching the Dodger game on the overhead screens and getting funny looks from people walking around, when they notice what I am holding. Finally I'm called to a table and sit down. Just as I get my chips out of the rack [though you may play from the rack at Commerce] the dealer asks if he can sell me $10 in $1 blues for two columns of peach. I say sure, make the change and proceed to place them near the rail and put up a BB of two peach chips. I get a few more strange looks but the dealer is happy that he has one less call for a chip runner to chop blues / cash, for the rake and jackpot drop boxes. I only played for the next two hours with the peach chips, [4 or 5 hands] but I more than triple my buy in, and get almost no respect, at a very loose 1/2 table. I've been giddy at work all day today just thinking about it. I wonder what I'll do today, since I don't have to work tomorrow. Maybe play a tourney and refuse to color up...
